February 10, 2007 - Jonah's, Palm Beach, NSW
Destination Unknown
When Mark, 31, surprised Fiona, 26, with a trip to Melbourne, she enjoyed a day of lunch, shopping and a deluxe manicure treatment before heading back to the Westin to get ready for dinner. "Mark told me how beautiful I looked and asked if he could take a photo. The flash went off and before I knew it he was down on one knee right there in the hotel room!" says the bride. A night out at the Crown Casino followed before flying back to Sydney to celebrate with friends. The couple were engaged for 14 months.
Dress Code
The bride wore a one-off Bora Couture bias-cut design in ivory satin and tulle adorned with pearls and crystals. The groom looked dashing in a Ted Baker Endurance suit. Fiona's bridesmaids Tobie-Anne and Kate wore backless 'Goddess' gowns by Perth dressmaker Ruth Tarvydas in mocha satin.
Tropical Favourites
A trailing bridal bouquet of white phalaenopsis orchids with deep pink throats, and gold back leaf and dodder vine accented the wedding's beachy theme. "Orchids are my favourite flower and being near the ocean we wanted a tropical look," says Fiona. The reception tables were decorated with long low tropical arrangements with orchids of all colours, berries, nuts, and tropical foliage. The bride worked with Hills The Flower Market to achieve the look.
