Why should I choose Cook Islands for my wedding?
Described as a beach lover’s paradise, the 15 islands are scattered across millions of square kilometres of crystal-clear ocean – halfway between New Zealand and Hawaii. Barefoot beach ceremony or church wedding in one of the island’s historic limestone churches, you can be assured the backdrop will not disappoint.

How can I adopt the Cook Islands’ culture in my ceremony?
Cook Islanders are natural-born performers, so traditional song and dance will add an island touch to your ceremony. Traditionally, a groom wears a tropical floral nek ei around his neck, and the bride a head ei (crown).

Who can help me organise my day?
Wedding Cook Islands and Resort weddings offer Cook Island wedding packages from $1000.

Making it legal
You will need to submit an application for a marriage license in person to the Registrar of Marriages in Cook Islands at least three working days before the marriage. You’ll need original birth certificates and passports to submit your application. If you wish to have a Catholic ceremony, you need to provide baptism certificates and proof you’ve completed marriage prep classes.

The Cost? When using Weddings Cook Islands, the cost is covered in the package. If you cannot be in the Cook Islands three days prior to the wedding, you can apply for a wedding-license waiver at least 24 hours prior for an additional NZ$50.

Getting there: Emirates, Qantas, Air New Zealand and Virgin all offer flights there.
