Mandie, 26, and Roger, 28, met as teenagers at a mutual friend’s wedding. ‘We had an instant attraction to each other. I really do believe it was love at first sight!’ says the bride. Ten years later the couple married. ‘Roger proposed on the steps of the Opera House. As I am a musician, it was very symbolic.’ The bride wore an ivory, French lace and organza gown from Lucy Pestana Designs featuring a beautiful bow and brooch at the waist. ‘I wanted a traditional wedding gown with a full-length veil,’ Mandie explains. Her bridesmaids’ latte silk satin and plum chiffon cocktail dresses inspired the colour scheme for the rest of the couple’s day.

Mandie’s grandma made her signature honey cake from the island of Madeira in Portugal for bomboniere. ‘I boxed them beautifully with a description of the cake and ingredients for those who weren’t familiar with the cake,’ the bride explains. The couple also served a two-tier chocolate wedding cake decorated with white icing, flowers and purple ribbon.
